Carnival Returns to Downtown Oakland in 2023

The Mayor and Town Council of Oakland are excited to announce a new family friendly event coming to Oakland during the Autumn Glory Festival. The Town of Oakland has partnered with Gambill Amusements to bring a carnival to downtown Oakland during the festival.
The carnival will be operational from Wednesday, October 11th until Sunday, October 15th. It will be set up on Liberty Street, the Oakland B&O Train Museum, and some additional surrounding parking areas. Liberty Street will be partially closed for the entire week from Monday to Sunday. Carnival hours and pricing will be announced closer to the event date.
The carnival is a great family event and a wonderful way to celebrate the glory of autumn! The carnival will offer over a dozen different rides for all ages as well as multiple games and other activities for the whole family. Additionally, there will be a variety of food options throughout the event.
The idea to bring a carnival to Oakland was developed with local families in mind. “While there are a ton of activities that go on in Garrett County throughout the Autumn Glory festival, there’s not much that is specific to children and families. This will fill that gap and hopefully bring many visitors to Oakland”, said Oakland Business Coordinator Nicole McCullough. “Although the carnival will be set up throughout the week, all the other favorite Autumn Glory activities are still taking place including the Fireman’s Parade on Thursday, the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, and the Mountain Top Cruisers Car Show on Sunday.”
Sponsorship opportunities are available to help fund the carnival and interested persons can contact Nicole McCullough at 301-334-2691 or mainstreetgoba@gmail.com.
